About Something

  • My name is Mike. I love being a stay-at-home parent because, most of the time, I have no idea what I'm doing. Each day, I'm learning something new, I think (or I hope).

I also Twitter. Sign-up or follow me to read what I am doing—or thinking—in 140 characters or less. It'll be fun.

I'd add the time they are old enough to swallow a pill, since they can't seem to swallow liquid medicine. Also the time they start begging every single weekend to go to Sports Authority, where Toys R Us used to be enough.

Ame

how about the time when they say, "Mom, I don't have any clean bra's!" ahhh ... but you won't have THAT one ;)

Ame

or how about the time when the toy section of target is trumped out by the make-up section ... where they do not list the prices of each item!

Ame

or the really sad one ... when mom isn't 'cool' in public ;(

though i must confess ... sometimes i am :)

Oh, I would definitely add "child is old enough to play at the park without Mommy (or Daddy) going up the slide with them."

On a related note, I would also add, "child can swing himself" and "child can make her own breakfast".

Semi-Slacker MOm

That's cute!

I love reading the Expecting one, but I didn't have time to read the 1st year much less the toddler years!!!

How about when Mommy can take a nap, a bath or use the bathroom without interruption!

Amy

I'd add: Forward facing car seat (the only thing better is no car seat!)
getting their own cereal! A couple of extra minutes in bed for mom (or dad)

Tall enough to ride the roller coasters with mom!!!!!! Totally the best!!!!

Kimberly Kovach

When they were old enough to stay home alone instead of running on a "quick" errand. Woo-hoo!
Found you from blog party.

Bahahahaaa! The "wash my butt now" talking milestone is hilarious. I'd add the "but why?" endless conversation milestone.

Katie

Ha, ha, ha, ha...love your milestones and so much better than the one's "professionals" give! Too funny...

Hey--somehow I stumbled here. I love this idea of milestones.
I have a few for you:

**when you can finally sleep for 7 consecutive hours
**when you can go on a trip to the grocery store without bringing a diaperbag that is heavier than the child
**when you can finish a conversation with an adult without being interupted.

fiona

When child is (almost) as tall as you (and likely to be taller).
Making own breakfast is a huge milestone.
Wiping own butt.
